In this unit, students study the unit texts for what they reveal about happiness and its pursuit. They also study them for the ways the writers work with and incorporate evidence and explanation into their texts. The unit concludes with a task that asks students to write an essay in which they imagine how Grant and Guest, the authors of the unit texts, would respond to a quotation about happiness by Viktor Frankl.
